Pt. Mohan Lal S.D College for Women Gurdaspur saw its dawn in 1995 under the aegis of Pt. Mohan Lal Ji. The sole aim of Institution is to harness the pernicious human resource the women for the welfare of the society and to uplift & empower the girl students. Pt. Mohan Lal S.D College for Women Gurdaspur (Re-Accredited ‘A’ grade by NAAC) is a post graduate multi-faculty only women college in this border and backward area. 
        The college is entrusted to bestow holistic education focusing on the overall development of the personality of women through Academics Sports and extra-curricular activities.
        The Institution is making every possible effort to uplift the poor and down trodden section of the area by educating their women folk by encouraging them to realize their potential to face mind-boggling situations of the globalized world. Mohan Lal Ji the institute which started with only 95 students is imparting education to nearly 1500 students at Graduate and Post Graduate level in various streams of Arts Science Commerce and IT. Diploma in Dress Designing PGDCA M.A (Punjabi) M.Sc (Computer Science) & M.Com are running successfully at Post Graduate level. B.A B.Com (Regular) BCA B.Sc (Medical and Non-Medical) B.Sc (Economic) B.Sc (Computer Science) etc. courses are available in the institution.
        Apart from UGC sponsored Add On courses viz: Apparel Designing IT Cosmetology Basic Cooking and Catering Management Functional English Banking & Insurance and Bio-Technology the students are availing the facilities of Home Science labs highly modernized. Store house of knowledge library is adding mental growth & knowledge of the students. The Institute is imparting education to +1 & +2 classes in Arts Commerce Science & Computers. The college is making giant strides in all spheres under the stewardship of worthy members of management & Principal Dr.(Mrs.) Neelam Sethi winning accolades & awards at different National/International levels.         The incumbent Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Sethi has been working heart and soul to accelerate the growth and development of the college. It is with her undaunting courage irrepressible will and determination that the college is forgoing ahead not only in Academics but Sports and Cultural activities also. 
        The sportsperformers of Gymnastics Volleyball Boxing Kick Boxing Hapkido Boxing Gatka Taekwondo Chiakwondo Tangsoodo Wushu & Badminton have brought laurels to the Almamater by wining various championships getting Gold silver bronze medals and cash prizes at different state and National Levels. 
        To enhance the personalities of faculty members the College arranges Faculty Development Programmes in which Conscientious Educationists and Prestigious personalities are invited to deliver lectures.
